Iván Cuéllar Sacristán

Iván Cuéllar Sacristán, commonly known as Iván Cuéllar, is a Spanish goalkeeper born in Mérida on 27 May 1984. He developed at Real Madrid before returning to Mérida UD, where he made his senior debut in Segunda División B at 17. Atlético Madrid then recruited him, and he reached the first team in 2005, initially serving as deputy to Leo Franco before gaining more opportunities. In 2008, Cuéllar joined Sporting Gijón and gradually established himself as the club’s starting goalkeeper, despite lengthy absences caused by a cruciate ligament tear and ankle injuries. His standout Sporting campaign came in 2014–15, when he won the Ricardo Zamora Trophy as Segunda División’s best goalkeeper and helped secure promotion to La Liga. He moved to Leganés in 2017, later returned to Sporting, and joined Mallorca in 2023. At Mallorca, Iván Cuéllar has provided experienced goalkeeping depth, while his career is noted for cross-claiming, shot-stopping and proactive sweeper actions.
