Iuri António Teixeira Tavares
Iuri Tavares is a forward born in Portugal who represents Cape Verde internationally. He developed at Benfica, where he gained UEFA Youth League experience before moving to Vitória de Guimarães. Tavares made his professional debut for Vitória in a Taça de Portugal match against Moreirense on 21 November 2021. In 2023, he moved to the United States to join Crown Legacy FC, Charlotte FC’s reserve side, and scored 12 goals in 26 MLS NEXT Pro appearances. His form earned him a Charlotte FC first-team contract in February 2024, and he scored three goals in 28 MLS appearances that season. Tavares made his Cape Verde debut in March 2022 against San Marino. He returned to Europe with NK Varaždin in July 2025, where the 191cm attacker has been used primarily from the left and contributes through his aerial play, dribbling and defensive work.
