Ignacio Peña Sotorres

Iñaki Peña is a Spanish goalkeeper, born Ignacio Peña Sotorres in Alicante on 2 March 1999. He began at Alicante CF in 2004, moved to Villarreal CF in 2009, and joined Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2012. At Barcelona, Peña developed through the youth ranks and was the starting goalkeeper for the side that won the 2017–18 UEFA Youth League, beating Chelsea in the final. He progressed to Barcelona B in 2018, making his senior debut against Atlético Baleares before joining the first-team goalkeeping group. Seeking regular competitive football, Iñaki Peña moved to Galatasaray on a six-month loan in January 2022 and gained experience in Turkish and European competition. Back at Barcelona, he became an important first-team option and took over when Marc-André ter Stegen was injured in 2024, keeping a clean sheet in a 4–0 Clásico win over Real Madrid. Peña is currently listed with Panathinaikos, continuing a career shaped by academy development, patient progression and experience at major European clubs.
