Isa Sakamoto

Isa Sakamoto is a Japanese midfielder born in Kumamoto. He developed with Sorriso Kumamoto before a spell at JFA Academy Fukushima U-15 and joining Gamba Osaka Youth in 2019. While still in the academy, he made professional appearances for Gamba Osaka U-23 in the J3 League in 2020. In 2021, Sakamoto led the Prince Takamado U18 Premier League West scoring chart with 15 goals in 13 appearances. He stepped up to Gamba Osaka’s first team in 2022, then moved on loan to Fagiano Okayama for the 2023 season, scoring four times in 26 appearances. Returning to Gamba, he broke through in the 2024 J1 League campaign, scoring 10 goals and earning J.League Young Player of the Month awards for April and November/December. In January 2025, Sakamoto joined KVC Westerlo, where his movement between midfield and attack has supported his development in Belgian football.
