Ivan Provedel

Ivan Provedel is an Italian goalkeeper born in Udine on 17 March 1994. He began football as a forward and switched to goalkeeping at 15, a background that has informed his reading of attackers and one-on-one situations. After developing through youth football, Provedel joined Chievo and later moved to Empoli, where he helped the club secure promotion to Serie A before an injury interrupted his progress. He eventually established himself in the top flight with Spezia, making his performances over two seasons the platform for a move to Lazio in August 2022. At Lazio, his 194-centimetre frame, positioning and ability to contribute to build-up have made him a prominent modern goalkeeper. Provedel also supplied one of European football’s most unusual moments when he headed a 95th-minute equaliser against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on 19 September 2023, becoming only the second goalkeeper to score from open play in the competition. He was named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year for 2022–23.
