Iurie Iovu

Iurie Iovu is a Moldovan defender born on 6 July 2002. He developed in Cagliari’s academy and featured for the club’s Primavera side from 2020 to 2022, while also reaching senior matchday squads during the 2021–22 season. Iovu did not make a senior appearance for Cagliari before moving to Venezia in 2022. He was immediately loaned to Croatian club Istra 1961, where regular playing time helped establish him in the first team before he completed a permanent transfer. In early 2025, Iovu joined Deportivo Alavés B on loan, gaining experience in Spain. Dundee United then brought him to Scotland in July 2025 to strengthen their defensive options. At international level, Iovu made his senior Moldova debut against Austria in a 2021 World Cup qualifier, adding experience to a career spanning Italy, Croatia, Spain and Scotland.
