Hugo Sotelo Gómez

Hugo Sotelo is a Spanish central midfielder from Vigo, born on 19 December 2003. He developed in the Celta Vigo academy and progressed to Celta Fortuna, where he gained experience in Spain’s lower divisions. Sotelo made his professional debut for Celta in May 2021, appearing against Barcelona in a 2–1 victory at Camp Nou. He subsequently divided his time between the reserve side and Celta’s first team before making 17 La Liga appearances in 2023–24. A technically minded midfielder, Sotelo has been used both as a deep-lying playmaker and as a more advanced organiser, helping build from behind, progress the ball and regulate tempo. His defensive work is primarily positional, with passing-lane coverage and interceptions complementing his distribution. He later featured in European competition, received a Spain Under-21 call-up and is now listed with Levante.
