Hrannar Björn Steingrímsson

Hrannar Björn Steingrímsson is an Icelandic defender who has built most of his senior career in northern Iceland. Born on 19 June 1992, he developed with Völsungur ÍF in Húsavík, recording 26 senior appearances and three goals before joining KA Akureyri in 2014. At KA, he helped the club’s promotion push from the second tier and then established himself in Iceland’s top flight after its return. Primarily a right-back, Steingrímsson has also covered left-back and centre-back, giving the team flexibility across the defensive line. His first recorded top-flight goal came against Fjölnir in August 2017. Over more than a decade with KA, he surpassed 300 appearances and represented the club in eight UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying matches. Steingrímsson also helped KA win the Icelandic Cup in the 2023–24 season, adding major silverware to a long regional career.
