Houboulang Mendes

Houboulang Mendes is a French-born Guinea-Bissau international right-back who can also operate in central defence. Born in Évry, he developed in the Île-de-France region before joining Laval’s academy at 15. Mendes made his senior debut for Laval in 2017 and became a regular during the following Championnat National campaign. In 2018, he moved to Lorient, where he recovered from a serious knee injury and later helped the club win the 2019–20 Ligue 2 title and gain promotion. After two seasons in Ligue 1, Mendes joined Spanish side Almería in 2022. He subsequently sought playing time with loans at Mirandés and Troyes, before continuing his career at Fortuna Sittard and joining Servette FC. Internationally, Mendes represents Guinea-Bissau and was involved in the squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
