Hyun-Seok Hong

Hong Hyun-Seok is a South Korean central midfielder born in Seoul on June 16, 1999. He developed in the Ulsan Hyundai youth system before moving to Germany, joining SpVgg Unterhaching on loan in January 2018 and making his professional debut there in February 2019. Hong then spent two seasons with Juniors OÖ, where his passing and attacking contribution helped him progress to LASK’s senior side in 2021. In August 2022, he moved to KAA Gent, becoming a regular midfielder who linked possession with forward play. He later joined FSV Mainz 05 in August 2024 and also had a spell with Nantes. Internationally, Hong made his South Korea debut in 2023 and represented the country at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. He was also part of South Korea’s gold-medal-winning squad at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
