Hannes Van der Bruggen

Hannes Van der Bruggen is a Belgian midfielder born in Burst on 1 April 1993. He developed in the Gent academy and made his senior debut for Gent in 2010. Van der Bruggen became the club’s captain at 19 and helped Gent win their first Belgian league title in 2014–15, adding the Belgian Super Cup the following season. In January 2017, he moved to Kortrijk, where he continued to grow into an experienced central midfielder and regularly took on leadership responsibilities. He joined Cercle Brugge in 2021, extending a professional career spent in Belgian football. At Cercle, Van der Bruggen operates in central or deeper midfield, contributing through positional discipline, ball recovery and dependable distribution while helping connect defence with attack.
