Hákon Rafn Valdimarsson

Hákon Rafn Valdimarsson is an Icelandic goalkeeper who developed through football in Iceland and Sweden. Born in Iceland on October 13, 2001, he came through the youth ranks of KR Reykjavík before joining Grótta. Valdimarsson helped Grótta achieve promotion to Iceland’s top flight in 2019. In 2021, he moved to Sweden to join IF Elfsborg, where he developed into the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and was named Allsvenskan Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023. His performances also brought senior international involvement with Iceland. In January 2024, Valdimarsson transferred to Brentford and continued his career in the English Premier League. Standing 188 centimetres tall, he combines shot-stopping with a proactive style, including a high starting position, sweeping actions behind the defence and composed distribution under pressure.
