Heinz Lindner

Heinz Lindner is an Austrian goalkeeper born in Linz on 17 July 1990. He developed in the youth system of LASK Linz before moving to Austria Vienna in 2004, where he progressed through the reserves and established himself with the first team. Lindner was Austria Vienna’s starting goalkeeper during the 2012–13 Austrian Bundesliga title-winning campaign, recording 17 clean sheets in 36 matches. In 2015, he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, gaining experience in the German Bundesliga before continuing his career in Switzerland with Grasshoppers and FC Basel 1893. At Basel, Lindner moved beyond a backup role to become the number one and played in the UEFA Europa Conference League. After joining FC Sion, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May 2023, underwent successful surgery and missed the remainder of that season and Austria’s subsequent Euro 2024 qualifiers. He later returned via a loan to Union Saint-Gilloise, winning the 2023–24 Belgian Cup, and is now registered with FC Zurich, while his international career includes involvement with Austria.
