Frederick Henry Kessler

Frederick Henry Kessler is an American defender born in New York City on June 25, 1998. He developed in the New York Red Bulls academy before continuing with Beachside Soccer Club and later entering the University of Virginia in 2017. At Virginia, Kessler helped the team reach the 2019 NCAA championship game, won the 2019 ACC Tournament MVP award, and became a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. New England Revolution selected him sixth overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, and he made his professional debut on February 29 that year. With New England, Kessler developed from a physical stopper into a defender trusted to support build-up play. He represented the United States, including an appearance as a substitute in the 2021 Gold Cup final victory over Mexico. After joining St. Louis City in August 2024, Kessler later moved to Charlotte, where his height and aerial ability remain important defensive assets.
