Hörður Ingi Gunnarsson

Hörður Ingi Gunnarsson is an Icelandic right-back born in Reykjavík on 14 August 1998. He developed in the FH Hafnarfjörður system and progressed through Iceland’s youth teams before beginning senior football. In 2017, he made his Icelandic top-flight debut for Víkingur Ólafsvík, while also gaining experience with HK Kópavogur and later ÍA Akranes. His 2018 season with ÍA included 20 second-tier appearances and helped the club secure promotion. Gunnarsson returned to FH in 2020 and established himself in Iceland’s top flight, using his endurance and crossing to support play from the flank. He earned his senior Iceland debut against Mexico in May 2021, then moved to Norway’s Sogndal in 2022 before returning to Iceland. In August 2024, Gunnarsson joined Valur Reykjavík, where he continues to provide defensive experience and can operate on either side of the back line.
