Hakan Çalhanoğlu

Hakan Çalhanoğlu is a right-footed defensive midfielder born in Mannheim, Germany, who represents Türkiye internationally. He developed at Waldhof Mannheim and Karlsruher SC, helping Karlsruhe return to the 2. Bundesliga in 2012–13 before moving to Hamburger SV in 2013. At Hamburg, Çalhanoğlu made his Bundesliga breakthrough, then joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 and became known for set pieces, long-range shooting and creative play from attacking midfield. In 2017, he transferred to AC Milan, where he continued to contribute as a technically gifted creator. Çalhanoğlu moved to Inter in 2021 and gradually shifted into a deeper midfield role, taking greater responsibility for circulation, tempo and defensive coverage. His passing range and dead-ball delivery have remained important as he has adapted to playing as a regista. He has also established himself with Türkiye, progressing from youth teams to the senior side and serving as captain.
