Gerard Gumbau Garriga
Gerard Gumbau Garriga, known as Gumbau, is a Spanish defensive midfielder born in Campllong. He began in the youth ranks at Cassà before joining Girona in 2004, developing there for eight years. Gumbau made his senior debut for Girona’s reserves during the 2012–13 season and scored six goals in 31 appearances in the following campaign. In 2014, he moved to Barcelona B and made his first-team debut under Luis Enrique in a Copa del Rey victory over Elche in January 2015. Seeking regular top-flight football, Gumbau joined Leganés in 2017, then returned to Girona in 2019. He moved to Elche in 2021, where he became an important midfielder and recorded six assists in 2022–23. Granada signed Gumbau in 2023, and he remains part of the club’s midfield group.
