Gonzalo Villar del Fraile

Gonzalo Villar is a Spanish central midfielder born in Murcia on 23 March 1998. He developed at Elche, making senior appearances for the reserve side before joining Valencia in 2015. After three years in Valencia’s academy, he returned to Elche in 2018 and established himself in Segunda División. Roma signed Villar in January 2020, giving him sustained experience in Serie A. At Roma, Villar drew attention for secure passing, close control and his ability to receive under pressure, turn away from markers and advance play. He later spent loan spells with Getafe and Sampdoria before joining Granada, where he remained a regular during the 2023–24 La Liga season. Now linked with Elche, Gonzalo Villar represents a return to the club that launched his senior career.
