Genís Montolio Lafuente
Genís Montolio, commonly known as Genís Montolio, is a Spanish defender born in Barcelona on 23 July 1996. He developed in the youth systems of Barcelona and Espanyol before joining Villarreal’s academy in 2012. With Villarreal Juvenil A, he helped defeat Espanyol 3–2 in the 2015 Youth Champions Cup final, scoring in the match. Montolio progressed through Villarreal C and made his professional debut for Villarreal B in 2017, later appearing for Villarreal in the Europa League against Maccabi Tel Aviv that December. He subsequently played for Espanyol B, Atlético Levante and Deportivo Alavés before moving to Switzerland in 2021. After a spell with Zürich B, he joined FC Wil, where he made 56 appearances and scored eight goals across two seasons. Montolio signed for FC Thun in 2024 and helped the club win the 2024–25 Swiss Challenge League, securing promotion to the Swiss Super League.
