Gabriele Zappa

Gabriele Zappa is an Italian defender born in Monza on 22 December 1999. He developed in the Lombardy area before joining Inter’s youth academy in 2010, progressing through its age-group teams and Primavera. With Inter’s Under-19 side, Zappa won the Campionato Primavera 1, the Supercoppa Primavera and the Viareggio Tournament in the 2017–18 season. Inter agreed to transfer him to Pescara in January 2019, although he remained in Milan on loan until the end of that campaign, before making 26 Serie B appearances and scoring five goals for Pescara in 2019–20. Cagliari then brought Zappa to Sardinia on loan in September 2020, with the move including an obligation to buy. He has since operated as a right-back and right-sided centre-back, and his cross for Leonardo Pavoletti’s winner against Bari in the 2023 promotion playoff final helped Cagliari return to Serie A.
