Giovanni van Zwam

Giovanni van Zwam is a Dutch defender born in Ede on 2 January 2004. He began playing with amateur club WAVV before joining NEC Nijmegen at seven and moving to Vitesse Arnhem in 2015. At Vitesse, van Zwam progressed through the academy from the under-12s to the first team, signing his first professional contract in March 2021. He made his senior debut on 19 August 2023, coming on as a late substitute against PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. During his time in Arnhem, Giovanni van Zwam operated mainly as a centre-back and also covered at right-back. After Vitesse’s relegation, he joined Go Ahead Eagles on a free transfer on 1 September 2025, agreeing a contract through June 2027. He later made his Europa League debut for Go Ahead Eagles in November 2025, featuring against Lyon and Braga.
