Gianni Ryan Stensness

Gianni Ryan Stensness is an Australian midfielder who developed through Pittwater RSL and North Shore Mariners before joining the Central Coast Mariners academy. He made his professional breakthrough with Wellington Phoenix, then returned to Central Coast Mariners in 2019. At Central Coast, Stensness established himself as a defensive midfielder, using tackling, stamina and positional discipline to disrupt attacks. His performances during the 2020–21 season helped earn a move to Norway, where he joined Viking in August 2021. Stensness has also shown positional versatility, operating as a holding midfielder and, when required, in a deeper defensive role. Internationally, he represented New Zealand at under-20 level and played in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic campaign before switching allegiance to Australia. He made his senior Australia debut against Japan in March 2022 and is listed with Viking and Viking II.
