Gabriel Bogdan Simion

Gabriel Bogdan Simion is a Romanian defender born in Călărași on 22 May 1998. He began his development with hometown club Dunărea Călărași before joining the Steaua București academy, now associated with FCSB, in 2010. Simion entered senior football with Academica Clinceni in 2017 and later returned to Dunărea Călărași for the club’s Liga I campaign. He subsequently represented Astra Giurgiu and spent the 2021–22 season with Aris Limassol in Cyprus. During 2020–21, Simion broke into FCSB’s first team, making league appearances and featuring in the Europa League. He moved to Universitatea Cluj in August 2022, where he became a regular presence and surpassed 100 appearances. Primarily a defender, Simion has also developed into a defensive midfielder while remaining capable of operating at right-back or centre-back.
