Graeme Garry Shinnie

Graeme Garry Shinnie is a Scottish defender from Aberdeen who developed at Dyce Boys Club before joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2009. At Inverness CT, he established himself at left-back and helped the club win the Scottish Cup in 2015, leaving after the final for hometown Aberdeen. During his first Aberdeen spell from 2015 to 2019, Shinnie moved into central midfield and became club captain in 2017. He then joined Derby County on a free transfer, followed by a spell with Wigan Athletic, where he won the League One title in 2022. Returning north to Aberdeen, initially on loan, Shinnie resumed the captaincy and added another Scottish Cup triumph in 2025, scoring in the shootout against Celtic. His versatility has seen him operate as a left-back or defensive midfielder, combining tackling and recoveries with direct distribution. Shinnie also represented Scotland, including in the 2019 defeat by Kazakhstan.
