Gonzalo Plata attacks space from the right, drifts into half-spaces, and cuts inside to finish with his left while keeping opposing back lines honest and stretched. He drives at defenders with purpose. Gonzalo Plata joined Sporting CP in 2019 and was part of the squad that won the Primeira Liga in 2020/21. He then helped Real Valladolid earn promotion to La Liga in 2021/22. The 2024 move to Flamengo placed Plata in a high-pressing system where he contributes with runs, finishing moves, and timing his pulls behind the last line. Gonzalo Plata has started all three group matches for Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup.
