Guillaume Jannez

Guillaume Jannez is a French defender who has spent almost two decades with US Concarneau. Born in Concarneau in 1989, he began playing football at AS Baye and later joined the youth ranks of FC Lorient for three seasons. He then moved to Quimperlé before returning to his hometown club in 2007, initially combining senior and reserve football. At 20, manager Nicolas Cloarec converted Jannez from midfield to centre-back and made him captain. Jannez developed into Concarneau’s defensive leader as the club progressed through the French divisions. He captained the side to the 2022–23 Championnat National title, which brought Concarneau promotion to Ligue 2. At 34, he signed his first professional contract and made his debut in a 0–0 draw against Bastia on 5 August 2023. Standing 1.96 metres, Jannez offers aerial presence and experience at centre-back, while his long service makes him a distinctive one-club figure in French football.
