Gauthier Hein

Gauthier Hein is a French midfielder born in Thionville on 7 August 1996. He developed at FC Metz, entering the academy as a youth player before beginning his senior career with the club. Hein gained experience on loan at Tours and Valenciennes, using his technical ability in wider attacking roles. In 2020, he joined Auxerre, where his creativity and goal threat helped him become a prominent Ligue 2 performer. During the 2023–24 season, Hein recorded 11 goals and nine assists as Auxerre won the Ligue 2 title, and he received the UNFP Ligue 2 Player of the Year award. Known for operating between midfield and defence, Hein contributes through close control, passing and chance creation, while his role has developed from winger toward attacking midfielder. Hein’s career reflects a gradual rise through France’s professional divisions and sustained importance in the creative phase.
