Gilberto Ivan Flores Melgarejo

Gilberto Ivan Flores Melgarejo is a Paraguayan defender born in Asunción on 1 April 2003. He developed at Libertad Asuncion and made his Paraguayan Primera División debut on 3 April 2022, appearing in a 3–2 win over Guaireña. During his early senior spell, Flores was part of Libertad’s squad as the club secured three league titles. In 2024, he joined Sportivo Trinidense on loan and established himself as a regular, making 32 league appearances and 29 starts. He also scored his first professional goal against Colo-Colo in a Copa Libertadores qualifying match that March. At international level, Flores started six of Paraguay’s seven matches at the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament and played all four games at the Paris Olympics, where Paraguay reached the quarter-finals. A front-foot centre-back, he is noted for aggressive defending, interceptions and reliable passing.
