Gil Cohen

Gil Cohen is an Israeli defender born on 8 November 2000. He developed in the youth system of Ashdod and progressed into the club’s senior side, beginning his professional career in his hometown. At Ashdod, Cohen gained experience across the back line, featuring as a centre-back and left-back as his responsibilities grew. His performances also brought involvement with Israel’s under-21 team. Cohen started all five of Israel’s matches at the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, gaining experience against leading young European sides. On 8 July 2024, he moved from Ashdod to Beitar Jerusalem on a contract scheduled to run through June 2027. With Beitar, Cohen continues his career in the Israeli Premier League, offering defensive cover and experience in more than one back-line position.
