Giorgos Athanasiadis
Giorgos Athanasiadis is a Greek goalkeeper born in Thessaloniki on 7 April 1993. He began his professional career with Panthrakikos, making his breakthrough during the 2012–13 season and later recording 26 Super League appearances in 2014–15. A move to Asteras Tripolis in 2016 brought him a more prominent role, including 30 matches in 2017–18. Athanasiadis then joined AEK Athens and spent the 2021–22 season on loan at Sheriff Tiraspol. He made 10 saves as Sheriff defeated Real Madrid 2–1 at the Bernabéu in the Champions League, a defining performance in his career. Returning to AEK, he helped the club win the Greek double in 2022–23 and kept a clean sheet in the title-clinching victory over Volos. He later earned his Greece debut in a June 2024 friendly against Germany before joining Iraklis 1908, continuing his career in Greece.
