Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos

Fred, whose full name is Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, is a left-footed central midfielder born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on 5 March 1993. He developed in Brazil and established himself at Internacional, where he helped win the Campeonato Gaúcho in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, Fred moved to Shakhtar Donetsk, spending five seasons in Ukraine and winning three Ukrainian Premier League titles. His performances earned a transfer to Manchester United in 2018, where he operated in midfield, contributing pressing, ball recovery and quick passing during a five-year spell. Fred won the EFL Cup with United in 2023 before joining Fenerbahçe later that year. Internationally, he represented Brazil at under-20 and under-23 level, then made his senior debut in 2014. He was included in Brazil’s squads for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and the 2021 Copa América, where Brazil finished runners-up.
