Formose Jean-Pierre Mendy
Formose Jean-Pierre Mendy is a defender born in Guédiawaye, Guinea-Bissau, on 8 October 1993. He developed with US Torcy and INF Clairefontaine before spending four years in Lille’s youth and reserve systems from 2009 to 2013. Mendy moved to Zulte Waregem in 2013, beginning a three-year spell in Belgium’s Pro League. In 2016, he joined Red Star, where he became captain during the 2017–18 season and featured in the Championnat National and Ligue 2. He subsequently played for Boulogne and Avranches before continuing through the French lower leagues with Rouen. Standing 1.85 metres, Mendy is associated with a central defensive role, emphasizing tackling, aerial duels, shot blocking and safe distribution. He represented France at under-17 level and was called into Guinea-Bissau’s preliminary squad in 2017.
