Fernando Calero Villa

Fernando Calero is a Spanish centre-back born in Boecillo on 14 September 1995. He completed his youth development at Málaga and made his senior debut for Atlético Malagueño in March 2014. Calero returned to Valladolid in 2016, joining the reserve side before progressing to the first team in 2017. He established himself during Valladolid’s 2017–18 promotion campaign, appearing in 27 league matches and scoring twice. His La Liga debut came against Girona on 17 August 2018, and he played 36 league matches for Valladolid in 2018–19. In August 2019, Calero moved to Espanyol, where he experienced Europa League football, relegation and the club’s 2020–21 LaLiga2 title-winning campaign. Primarily a central defender, Fernando Calero has also been used as a defensive midfielder and contributes through positioning, ball-blocking and composed passing.
