Frederik Riis Rønnow

Frederik Riis Rønnow is a Danish goalkeeper born in Horsens on 4 August 1992. He developed with Stensballe IK before joining AC Horsens at 16, making his senior debut in September 2011. Rønnow later moved to Esbjerg fB on loan after Horsens were relegated, while also establishing himself with Denmark’s under-21 team. In 2015 he joined Brondby, became first choice and kept 42 clean sheets in 120 matches, winning the Danish Cup in 2018. Eintracht Frankfurt signed him in 2018, although competition for the starting position restricted his opportunities before he joined FC Schalke 04 on loan for the 2020–21 season. Rønnow moved to Union Berlin in 2021, initially serving as a reserve before becoming an important first-team goalkeeper. He has represented Denmark at senior level and played in the Champions League for Union, including a notable performance against Real Madrid in 2023–24 that featured a penalty save.
