Fabian Herbers

Fabian Herbers is a German midfielder born on 17 August 1993 in Ahaus, Germany. He developed in the FC Twente academy before continuing his youth career with SC Preußen Münster and VfL Rhede. In 2013, he moved to the United States to attend Creighton University, where he became a standout creator and scorer. Herbers led the nation with 47 points and set a Creighton record with 17 assists in 2015, earning First Team All-American recognition twice. Philadelphia Union selected Herbers sixth overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, and he led MLS rookies with seven assists that season. After a disrupted 2017 campaign, he joined Chicago Fire in late 2018 and developed from a winger into a versatile midfielder who could also drop deeper to help protect leads. Herbers joined CF Montreal in 2025, continuing a career defined by passing, pressing and defensive work across several roles.
