Ederson Santana de Moraes

Ederson Santana de Moraes is a Brazilian goalkeeper born in Osasco on 17 August 1993. He developed at São Paulo before joining Benfica’s youth system and moving to Ribeirão in Portugal after Benfica released him in 2011. After 29 appearances in Portugal’s second tier, Ederson stepped up to Rio Ave in 2012, where his performances earned a return to Benfica in 2015. Initially Júlio César’s understudy, he took over during the 2015–16 season, helped Benfica defeat Sporting CP 1–0 in March 2016, and started the remaining matches as the club secured the league title. Manchester City signed him in 2017, and his left-footed distribution, long kicking and willingness to sweep behind the defence became central to Pep Guardiola’s build-up. At City, Ederson won six Premier League titles and represented Brazil at international level. After his long spell in England, he continued his career with Fenerbahçe.
