Edmond Fayçal Tapsoba

Edmond Fayçal Tapsoba is a Burkinabé centre-back born in Ouagadougou on 2 February 1999. He began organized football relatively late and developed at Salitas FC before moving to Portugal, where he joined Leixões in 2017. Tapsoba then progressed to Vitória de Guimarães, establishing himself in the first team during a rapid rise through Portuguese football. Bayer Leverkusen signed him in January 2020, and he soon became part of the club’s senior defensive group. At Leverkusen, Tapsoba has combined imposing size with composed distribution, helping his side build from the back and defend in a three-man system. He was part of the team that won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal in 2023/24, the club’s first German league title. Internationally, Tapsoba represents Burkina Faso and helped the Stallions reach the semi-finals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, earning selection for the tournament’s Best XI.
