Erik Sviatchenko
Erik Sviatchenko is a Danish defender born in Viborg on 4 October 1991. He joined the FC Midtjylland academy in 2006, aged 14, and made his senior debut for the club in 2009 after being named its Academy Player of the Year. Sviatchenko became a key figure in Midtjylland’s first Danish Superliga title in 2014–15 and later added further domestic league and cup honours during two spells there. In 2016, he moved to Celtic, where he featured in Brendan Rodgers’ unbeaten domestic treble-winning side and played in Champions League ties against Manchester City and Barcelona. After returning to FC Midtjylland, he continued to provide central defensive leadership before joining Houston Dynamo in 2023. With Houston, Sviatchenko helped win the U.S. Open Cup and has served as an experienced organiser in the back line.
