Edward McGinty

Edward McGinty is a goalkeeper born in Motherwell, Scotland, who represents the Republic of Ireland. He developed in Celtic’s youth academy before spending a year with Hibernian, then joined Sligo Rovers’ under-19s in 2016. McGinty made his senior debut in 2017 and established himself as Sligo’s first-choice goalkeeper by 2020. He helped Sligo defeat Bala Town in a 2022 Europa Conference League penalty shootout and later moved to Oxford United in July 2022. At Oxford, he made his debut in another shootout victory, against Swansea City in the EFL Cup, and also appeared against Arsenal in the FA Cup before returning to Sligo on loan in January 2024. During the 2024 season, McGinty recorded 12 clean sheets and made 144 league saves. He joined Shamrock Rovers permanently in January 2025 and has represented Ireland at under-21 level.
