Elseid Hysaj

Elseid Hysaj is an Albanian defender who primarily plays at right-back and can also operate on the left. Born in Shkodër in 1994, he moved to Italy as a teenager and developed in Empoli’s academy after joining in 2009. Hysaj made his professional debut for Empoli in the 2011 Coppa Italia and helped the club earn promotion to Serie A in 2014. In 2015, he transferred to Napoli, where he spent six seasons and won the Coppa Italia in 2020. He joined Lazio on a free transfer in 2021, reuniting with Maurizio Sarri, and has provided defensive cover across both flanks. For Albania, Hysaj became the country’s youngest captain in 2016 and represented the national team at Euro 2016 and Euro 2024. His game is built on disciplined positioning, cautious passing and reliable work in a structured back four.
