Emmanuel Oluwasegun Fernandez

Emmanuel Oluwasegun Fernandez is an English-born defender who plays for Rangers. Standing 1.94 metres tall, he developed as a striker and midfielder before settling in central defence. His youth football included Brentford and Gillingham, after which he continued his development with Sheppey United, Margate and Ramsgate in the non-league game. Peterborough United signed Fernandez in July 2021, and he made his senior debut against Middlesbrough in the Championship in April 2022. Loans at Spalding United and Barnet followed, before he became a regular for Peterborough and helped the club win the EFL Trophy at Wembley in April 2025. Rangers then signed him in July 2025, giving Fernandez a move to the Scottish Premiership. Born in England, he represents Nigeria and received his first call-up in March 2026, debuting against Iran and scoring against Jordan four days later.
