Ignacio Ezequiél Agustín Fernández Carballo

Ignacio Ezequiél Agustín Fernández Carballo, known as Equi Fernández, is an Argentine midfielder born in Buenos Aires on 25 July 2002. He joined the Boca Juniors academy in 2012 and made his professional debut against Patronato in May 2021. Fernández moved on loan to Tigre in 2022, making 42 appearances during a spell that took the club to the Professional League Cup final. Returning to Boca Juniors in 2023, he became a frequent starter and continued developing as a central or defensive midfielder. In August 2024, he transferred to Al-Qadsiah before moving to Bayer Leverkusen on 1 September 2025. His game combines ball-winning, progressive carrying and varied passing, allowing him to support buildup while covering space defensively. Fernández has represented Argentina at youth level, helping win the 2019 South American Under-17 Championship, and is listed with Argentina U23.
