Emīls Birka
Emīls Birka is a Latvian defender from Limbaži, born on 25 April 2000. He developed at FS Metta and made his senior debut in 2017, beginning a five-season spell with the club. Operating primarily on the left, Birka established himself in Latvia’s Virslīga before joining Valmiera FC in 2022. He helped Valmiera win the Latvian Higher League title that season, while his advancing role also brought a greater contribution in possession and from wide areas. After representing Latvia at youth level, Birka made his senior international debut against Lithuania in the Baltic Cup on 8 June 2024. In June 2025, he moved to Riga FC, adding experience to the capital club’s defensive options, with Riga FC II also listed among his squad affiliations.
