Eric Bertrand Bailly
Eric Bertrand Bailly is an Ivorian centre-back born in Bingerville, Côte d'Ivoire, on 12 April 1994. He developed in Espanyol's youth system after being spotted at a 2011 tournament in Burkina Faso, then made his senior debut for the Spanish club in October 2014. Three months later, Bailly moved to Villarreal, where his pace, aerial ability and front-foot tackling established him as a highly regarded defender. Manchester United signed him in 2016, and he helped the club win the Community Shield, League Cup and UEFA Europa League during his first season. Bailly also represented Ivory Coast and played a role in the nation's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations triumph. Later, recurring injuries restricted his opportunities at Manchester United, before he spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Marseille. Bailly subsequently joined Beşiktaş and returned to Villarreal in 2024.
