Ethan Kwame Colm Raymond Ampadu
Ethan Kwame Colm Raymond Ampadu is a Welsh defensive midfielder born in Exeter, England, who developed at Exeter City. He became Exeter’s youngest-ever debutant when he played 120 minutes against Brentford in the 2016 EFL Cup, earning Man of the Match recognition. Chelsea signed Ampadu in July 2017, and he won the FA Cup in 2018 and Europa League in 2019 while also gaining experience on loan. His loan spells took him to RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia, where he operated in midfield and defence and broadened his tactical range. Ampadu left Chelsea for Leeds United in July 2023 and helped the club win the 2024–25 EFL Championship and secure Premier League promotion. He has represented Wales at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup. At Leeds, Ampadu provides defensive cover, recycles possession and can also play as a ball-playing centre-back.
