Douglas dos Santos Justino de Melo

Douglas dos Santos Justino de Melo, commonly known as Douglas Santos, is a Brazilian left-back born on March 22, 1994 in João Pessoa. He developed at Náutico before moving to Europe with Udinese and Granada in 2013–14, then returned to Atlético Mineiro on loan that led to a permanent spell and a Copa do Brasil triumph. He joined Hamburger SV in 2016 for three seasons, before transferring to Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2019, where he became a core pillar and captain, contributing to multiple Russian titles and cups with a contract through 2027. On the field he is a left-footed defender known for tactical discipline, progressive passing and leadership; his role has evolved from an energetic overlapping full-back to an inverted/holding left-back who guides build-up and secures the left channel. A notable career milestone is winning Olympic gold with Brazil at Rio 2016.
