Diogo Filipe Monteiro Pinto Leite

Diogo Leite is a Portuguese central defender born in Porto in 1999. He began at Leixões before joining FC Porto’s academy at nine, where he developed for more than a decade. Leite made his professional debut for Porto B in 2017, then moved into the senior side and started the 2018 Supertaça, a 3–1 victory for Porto. He also helped Porto win the 2018–19 UEFA Youth League. Seeking regular first-team football, he joined SC Braga on loan in 2021, making 34 appearances. In July 2022, Union Berlin signed Leite on loan with a purchase option, which the German club exercised in 2023. At Union, he has operated as a left-sided centre-back in defensive systems and gained experience in European competition, including the club’s Champions League debut campaign. His pathway from Porto academy prospect to established Bundesliga defender has made Berlin the defining stage of Diogo Leite’s career.
