David Raya Martin

David Raya is a Spanish goalkeeper who has risen from lower-league football to the Premier League. Born in Barcelona on 15 September 1995, he trained at UE Cornellà before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2012. Raya gained senior experience on loan at Southport in 2014, making 24 appearances and helping the club avoid relegation. He returned to Blackburn, established himself in the first team and kept 17 clean sheets during the 2017–18 League One promotion campaign. Brentford signed Raya in 2019, and he won the Championship Golden Glove in 2020 before helping the club reach the Premier League in 2021. Arsenal initially brought him in on loan in 2023, after which he became the starter, winning the 2023–24 Premier League Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets and sharing it again in 2024–25 with 13. Raya combines shot-stopping with distribution, proactive sweeping and cross-claiming, and has represented Spain.
