David Pereira da Costa

David Pereira da Costa is a Portuguese midfielder born in Lisbon on 5 January 2001. He moved to France as a child and began his development with Étoile Club Houplines before joining the RC Lens academy in 2013. After progressing through Lens II, he signed his first professional contract in 2019 and made his Ligue 1 debut for Lens in October 2020. Da Costa scored his first professional goal against Saint-Étienne and developed into an attacking midfielder or shadow striker. He helped Lens finish second in Ligue 1 in 2023, then featured in the club’s 2023–24 Champions League campaign and scored against Freiburg in the Europa League play-offs. In February 2025, Da Costa joined the Portland Timbers as a Designated Player. His Portland role has included central and left-sided positions, with dribbling, passing and movement inside supporting chance creation.
