David Costas Cordal

David Costas, a centre-back, was born in Redondela, Spain, on 26 March 1995. He developed at Chapela CF before joining Celta Vigo’s academy, progressing through the youth system and reaching the first team as a teenager. Costas made his professional debut for Celta against Real Betis in August 2013, shortly after completing his junior career. He later gained experience with Mallorca and Oviedo in the Segunda División before joining Barcelona on loan in 2017. At Barcelona, he mainly played for the reserve side but also made a first-team appearance in the Copa del Rey under Ernesto Valverde. A subsequent loan at Almería preceded his return to Celta, and he moved permanently to Oviedo in July 2021. Costas has since established himself as a defensive option for Oviedo, contributing from central defence with recovery work, clearances and composed distribution.
